Back pain is a common disease, with millions of people each year visit doctors for help. Not only will they seek compensation, they want a diagnosis.

This is not always easy to diagnose back pain. Many structures in the body can cause. Muscles, ligaments and tendons, bones of the spine, joints, discs and nerves. Besides these structures, there may be underlying medical conditions with your doctor to assess needs.

If initially the diagnosis of lower back pain yourself, or leave your doctor, the diagnosis should consider both the location and their pain symptoms.

Step 1-Location

Diagnosis

Axial: If the location is best described with number 1 above, and the symptoms are a combination of 1, 2 and 3 can probably diagnose lower back pain as an axial type being more frequent. This is also called "mechanical" pain in lower back. A variety of structures can cause back pain in the axial low back, and he is difficult to identify what is the cause. Axial pain alone is improved, and about 90% of patients recover within six weeks.

Root: If the location is best described by the number 2 above, and the symptoms are a combination of 4, 5 and 6, can probably diagnose lower back pain as be a root commonly called sciatica. This pain is caused by compressing a spinal nerve below, usually the sciatic nerve that goes the spine at the back of the thigh to foot. Generally, doctors recommend a conservative treatment such as physiotherapy exercises, drugs and injections of the spine, perhaps six to eight weeks.

REFERENCE: Yes Location is best described by number 3 above, and the symptoms are a combination of 7, 8 and 9, you can probably diagnose your pain and back pain with referred pain, the least common. This back pain is treated the same as the axial back pain and is often the problem resolves.

How is the diagnosis back pain?

Diagnosis of care low back pain. Need an accurate diagnosis, your doctor may do better to ensure that underlying causes need attention. It is not enough to know that you have sciatica. You need to know the underlying cause of sciatica to determine treatment options.

As a doctor of chiropractic, you'd think I would vote for Chiropractic. However, both are equally good, long look at all causes.
